Terms of Service
Effective October 2, 2026
Plain-English terms. If anything here conflicts with Stripe's terms for payments, Stripe's terms control for the payment itself.
Who we are
Dayrate is software for filmmakers who quote and invoice their own jobs. It's made and run by Valley Films, LLC, a Virginia company ("we", "us"). Questions go to [email protected]. By buying or using Dayrate, you agree to these terms.
Your account
- One purchase covers one person. Want Dayrate for your team? Email us and we'll set you up.
- Keep your login safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give us a real email. That's where your receipts, login links and account notes go.
What you buy
- Dayrate costs $49, one time. You get lifetime access to the calculator, the Rate Book, the client estimate and the templates, with updates included.
- Add-ons, like the Call Sheet Template and the AI Producer Playbook, are separate one-time purchases.
- 30-day money-back guarantee. If it doesn't help, email us within 30 days and we'll refund your purchase.
Dayrate Pro
- Pro is an optional subscription: $29 a month or $290 a year.
- Dayrate owners can try Pro free for 7 days. If you don't cancel during the trial, it renews on the card you used.
- Pro renews until you cancel. Cancel anytime in Account. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. We don't give partial refunds for unused time.
- We may change Pro prices. If we do, we'll email you before it affects your next renewal.
Getting paid with Pay
- Payments run on Stripe. To accept card or bank payments, you connect your own Stripe account and agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement.
- You are the seller to your client. You're responsible for your services, your refunds, disputes and chargebacks, and your taxes.
- Dayrate keeps a 1% platform fee on payments made through Pay. Stripe also charges its own fees.
- You can add a card fee of up to 3% to card payments, where the law allows it. It's your job to know if it's allowed for you and your client.
- Dayrate isn't a party to your agreement with your client. We provide the software. The deal is between you and them.
Rates and estimates are a planning tool
The Rate Book and calculator give you real starting points. You set your prices and you own your quotes. We don't promise any result, like winning a job, a rate, or a payment.
Acceptable use
Don't use Dayrate to break the law, send spam, harass anyone, sell anything illegal, or attack or copy the service. Don't resell or share your access. We can suspend accounts that do.
Your content and data
Your budgets, clients, gear, brand, estimates and invoices belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them so Dayrate works. We also use anonymous, combined pricing data, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Dayrate up and fast, but we can't promise it will never be down. We may change, add or remove features. If we make a big change that takes away something you paid for, we'll tell you first.
Disclaimers
Dayrate is provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of rates.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or lost-profit damages. Our total liability for any claim is capped at what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending your account
You can stop using Dayrate anytime. We can end or suspend access if you break these terms. Sections that should survive, like payments owed, ownership and liability limits, still apply after that.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Virginia. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Virginia.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll email you. Using Dayrate after a change means you accept it.
